A Clinical Exercise Physiologist is a healthcare professional that can perform a variety of assessments, then prescribes exercises based on results to reach a specific fitness outcome. In addition, they supervise exercise progression and provide counseling about healthy lifestyle changes.

They may work with apparently healthy individuals and/or populations with medical conditions, functional limitations or disabilities associated with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, neuromuscular, and aging conditions.

A Clinical Exercise Physiologist is a health care professional who has completed a degree in Exercise Physiology and/or has been certified by the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology.

At the Niagara Fit gym an Exercise Physiologist will do a medical examination to help you determine exactly what is needed to achieve your personal goals.

Keep it Steady Balance Rehabilitation Program

At Niagara Fit, an Exercise Physiologist will customize a training plan, then guide you through a demanding and fun exercise session that will challenge your balance and coordination.

Unintentional falls are a leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries among senior individuals who are 65 years and older.

In addition to injuries, as well as the costs associated with them, falls can have many negative consequences for older adults. By reducing their chance of a fall, older adults can stay independent and have an increased quality of life.

Seniors are more likely to suffer a serious injury when falls occur then any other age group. In many cases, these injuries can have life-altering or life-threatening side effects which can impact an individual’s lifestyle.

There are many reasons why an older adult might fall, including a variety of biological, behavioral, and environmental factors.

The purpose of the program is to increase your confidence and awareness so you can do daily tasks easier and feel assertive in doing them.

High Performance Training

Advanced training for sports is a different type of training that focuses on developing all components of an athlete (balance, agility, strength, speed).

The purpose of this training is to optimise the effectiveness of cross-training, where plans are designed to stimulate energy specific systems that are most relatable to the athletes’ sports.

Many of the training styles require a high degree of body awareness and knowledge of gym fundamentals, therefore a screening process is conducted to ensure that this type of training can be used.

All athletes go through a medical and physical assessment which helps identify areas of pain, weakness, and any other type of underlying issues.

The plans accommodate the athlete’s current fitness levels and progression is ultimately based on how well the athlete can do specific exercises. The primary objective of the training plans is to prevent non-contact injuries and build resilience and strength in all parts of the body.

An Exercise Physiologist then takes the information and integrates a variety of training methods to help the athlete develop various mechanisms and characteristics in their body.
